Fireplace Fuels:
The appropriate fuel for each Anywhere Fireplace and Garden Torch model differs. Some use Liquid fuel made specifically for ventless fireplaces, others use Gel fuel cans and the torches use citronella fuel or lamp oil. The easiest way to tell what fuel should be used is if your fireplace has a rectangular reservoir and there is a white ceramic fiber inside of it, it uses liquid fuel. If your fireplace has a round cup opening, that is where you drop in the 1x use gel fuel can. If your torch has a wick, you use a citronella or lamp oil.
- The Fuels cannot be interchanged between different fuel burning fireplaces
- Never burn a fuel that is not an approved ventless fireplace fuel made specifically for your type of fireplace
- If you have any questions about the fuels please see the details and FAQs below or go to “contact us” at the bottom of the page.

Gel Fuel FAQ
- Q: Can this be used inside?
- A: All of our Pure gel fuels (no citronella added) can be used inside which is odorless, smokeless and clean burning. We recommend having a functioning and accessible fire extinguisher available in case of emergencies.
- Q: How do I dispose of my fuel cans?
- A: If you have consumed all of the fuel, the cans are recyclable. If you need to dispose of cans that have some fuel remaining, take the cans to your local paint shop, dump/sanitation dept if it accepts paints and other household chemicals or a local fire station. They should will be able to help you dispose of cans with remaining fuel.
- Q: How long does each can burn?
- It is nearly impossible to predict the burn time of any gel fuel. Just like a piece of fire wood, the burn time for a gel fuel is completely at the mercy of the surrounding environment. Environmental factors include, but are not limited to, type of fireplace, airflow, temperature, elevation, humidity, as well as many other conditions. While it is impossible to consistently predict the burn time, the average can will burn 2.5 hours and possibly up to three hours.
- Q: How long can I expect shipping to take? (Do you offer overnight shipping?)
- A: All Items are shipped using ground services only. Typical ground shipping time is 2 – 5 business days. Because the fuel is a flammable substance, it cannot be shipped via air overnight or by any expedited service.
- Q: Does gel fuel have a smell?
- A: No, gel fuel doesn’t put off any odor while burning. However, as with all gel fuels, there will be a slight odor when you open the lid. As soon as our gel fuel is lit, the fire will consume all vapors coming off of the gel and there will no longer be a smell.
- Q: Can I cook food over a gel fuel flame?
- A: We do not recommend cooking over gel fuel flame as it could be a safety risk of knocking over the fireplace or the can.
- Q: Does gel fuel put off heat?
- A: Each gel fuel can puts off approximately 3,000 BTUS which is equivalent to the heat a typical small space heater.
- Q: Where can I store my gel fuel?
- A: We recommend storing the gel fuel in a cool, dry place. Do not store in extreme temperatures, this may decrease the life of gel fuel. We also recommend having a functioning fire extinguisher in the house in case of emergencies.
- Q: My fuel is past it’s expiration date. Where can I dispose of it?
- A: Our gel fuel has a shelf life of approx one year. All boxes should have a packaging date stamped on them, the fuel is good for one year from this date. If you fuel is past the expiration, we recommend taking it to any local facility that will take old or used paint cans or using it at your own risk.
- Q: How full should my SunJel can be?
- A: There are 13 ounces of gel fuel in the 16 ounce can. This is done to prevent fuel spills during the lighting process.
- Q: What if I find rust in my can?
- A: You may discover a small amount of surface rust in the can if the can has been stored in a wet area or is past its expiration date. This will have no effect on the performance of the flame or introduce undesirable components to the exhaust.
